Washington Post corrects its online corrections process
WashingtonPost.com on Monday moved to addressed a long-standing criticism of daily newspaper sites, by making it easier for users to point out errors in its coverage.
A prominent new feedback link, distinct from story comments, will appear on each staff-written article, leading users to a simple form that seeks details about any errors. The Post, which blogged about the new policy then collects the corrections on an archive page.
Scott Rosenberg of MediaBugs provided a detailed writeup of the Post approach in MediaShift’s IdeaLab, including a discussion with Post Managing Editor Raju Narisetti of how the site came to the new approach, and Rosenberg’s recommendations for further improvements to the Post‘s form and its corrections process generally.
Rosenberg had previously spoken at length with Knight Digital Media Center’s Amy Gahran about the challenges of news corrections. A national survey by MediaBugs found only 60 percent of the daily newspaper sites it examined had any explicit way for users to report errors.
The News for Digital Journalists blog is made possible by a grant to USC Annenberg from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

I think it is good now users can pin point the errors.
