About the Seminar

This special seminar was a partnership of the Knight Digital Media Center at USC and the News 21 Initiative of the Knight and Carnegie foundations. A group of 18 university educators from the top journalism schools in the country participated in the seminar, which highlighted key demographic trends in the 21st Century that cut across economic, geographic, cultural, social and political lines. The educators will use the foundational information gained from the seminar as they direct teams of specially selected journalism students who will spend the next year covering different issues related to the umbrella topic “American Tapestry: Covering a Changing America.”
