Fellow for Digital Leadership Summit for Public Radio Stations

Dean Cappello is chief creative officer and senior vice president of programming at WNYC in New York and oversees broadcasting, program, and content production for WNYC-FM, WNYC-AM, WQXR, wnyc.org, wqxr.org, q2live.org, and culture.wnyc.org. He is also part of the core team that launched and oversees programming in the new Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC. Cappello is also the chief executive responsible for national program production and program development at WNYC and WQXR. Cappello joined WNYC in 1997 as senior director for news and information. Prior to joining WNYC, Cappello was senior producer of Monitor Radio's "Midday Edition." He spent several years as a producer and correspondent, creating documentaries and reports for NPR, the BBC, CBC and Monitor Radio from India, Africa and eastern and central Europe. In 1991, he won the New York Radio Festival Grand Award for "Passages to India," a 10-hour radio documentary series he co-produced. Cappello graduated from Emerson College.
