Mark Bickel is digital editor at The Fort Myers (FL) News-Press/news-press.com. Bickel’s career with The News-Press started in October 2004 as the sports editor. He first began reporting about sports for the Poughkeepsie (NY) Journal, later becoming an assistant sports editor and eventually a sports editor for the Journal. Bickel received a Newsroom Supervisor Recognition Award from Gannett, as well as a Society for News Design Award of Excellence. He served as vice-chairman for The Associated Press Sports Editors in the Northeast Region, and was a member of the Golf Writers Association of America and Metropolitan Golf Writers Association. He received a bachelor of science in communications management and a master of arts in public relations from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
