Martha Foley is news director at North Country Public Radio, based in Canton, N.Y. Foley manages a staff of two fulltime reporter/producers and two reporter/hosts (plus stringers) that has won numerous state and national journalism awards, including several national Edward R. Murrow awards. She's also on the air daily as editor, producer and news anchor of the station's morning news magazine, "The 8 O'clock Hour." Since 2001, Foley has worked closely with NCPR's program and Web team to develop ncpr.org, focusing on the news capacities of the Web site. Foley has encouraged local news at public radio stations across the country as a longtime member and director of Public Radio News Directors Inc., an organization of over 100 local newsrooms. As a director of PRNDI for six years, she helped develop The PRNDI Project, an annual training program for young reporters, and NewsWorks, training for station news departments. Foley holds a bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University.
