Stewart Vanderwilt is the director and general manager of KUT-FM in Austin, Texas. Since taking the helm in 2000, he has helped propel the organization to one of the highest-rated public radio stations in a market of its size. During his tenure at KUT, he launched Central Texas' first full-time public radio news operation. Vanderwilt has served on several boards including Public Radio International, Development Exchange, Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic and helped launch a radio service in Far West Texas, Marfa Public Radio. He has also served on a number of national committees and task forces, including the NPR Digital Transition Advisory Committee. Prior to joining KUT, Vanderwilt held a variety of positions with Indiana Public Radio at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., including general manager and station manager. He also collaborated on the creation of, and served as the executive producer for, the NPR program "Rock & Roll America," an examination of contemporary American history through popular music. Vanderwilt holds a degree in business from Ball State University.
