Fellow for News Entrepreneur Boot Camp 2010

Tim Jackson is editor and founder of New River Voice (NewRiverVoice.com), an online-only news organization in Southwest Virginia. The Voice is in the process of moving toward a nonprofit model of journalism under the new community organization, Freedom Foundation of Southwest Virginia. Jackson has held an array of positions, including editor of Canoe & Kayak, copy chief of Cooking Light, senior copy editor of Southern Living, and assistant director for student media at Radford University. He has also been a freelance writer and editor with his company Crimson Clover Creative, a part-time copy editor for The Tuscaloosa News, and an adjunct instructor at Radford University and the University of Alabama. Jackson received an M.F.A. in creative nonfiction from Goucher College and a bachelor's degree in communication (specializing in print journalism) from the University of Alabama.
