Samuel Fifer is a partner in the law firm of Sonnenschien, Nath & Rosenthal LLP and has extensive experience in the fields of intellectual property, entertainment and media law, including litigation and counseling. In the area of media law, he has advised clients and handled precedent-setting litigation in the areas of defamation, rights of privacy and publicity, access to courts, reporters' rights, subpoena defense and Freedom of Information. He also advises clients in the areas of pre-broadcast and pre-publication review. For the last eight years, Mr. Fifer has been identified as among a select group of lawyers in the Best Lawyers in America in the field of First Amendment Law. In addition to his law practice, Fifer is adjunct professor of law at Northwestern University School of Law, where he teaches a seminar in Entertainment Law.+

Howard Finberg is director of Interactive Learning at the Poynter Institute and directs News University. Has been in journalism for 30 years, including the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and The Arizona Republi. He was the Presidental Scholar at Poynter in 2002; joined Poynter full-time in 2003. Finberg also founded and was managing director of Finberg-Gentry, the Digital Futurist Consultancy to provide senior-level executives with strategic guidance and a better understanding of the technological changes that effect businesses online and offline and was named "New Media Pioneer" by NAA. Finberg has held management roles in newsrooms, technology, interactive-media, and corporate strategy. He also studies online media and the changing media habits of consumers and served as co-director of a yearlong study on Digital Journalism Credibility by the Online News Association, a multi-industry consortium of leading news professionals.

Elizabeth Osder is senior director of product at Yahoo! where she is responsible for product development for Yahoo! News, serving some 30 million readers a month. Osder has been an editor, producer, and consultant for publications, broadcasters, and online services including The New York Times, NPR, Nexis, New York Daily News, News Corp, Financial Times (UK), Time Warner, and The Poynter Institute. She began her media career as a freelance photojournalist and later became a photo editor for the Associated Press; executive producer for Advance Internet; development editor and director of product development for The New York Times on the Web and director of New Media for The New York Times News Services. In 2001-2002 Osder was awarded a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University. She is a frequent speaker on media and publishing and is recognized as an innovator in the rapid adoption of new technologies by traditional media companies. She is a founder and board member of the Online News Association and has taught in the graduate Journalism programs at USC Annenberg, Columbia and NYU.

Michael Pond is a media analyst at Nielsen//NetRatings. He works with media clients to implement custom research projects and provide insight to the results. Prior to Nielsen//NetRatings, he held media planning positions on both the client and advertising agency sides creating media solutions for advertising campaigns. He holds a B.A. in communications from California State University, Fullerton.

Chip Scanlan is senior faculty in writing at The Poynter Institute and director of the National Writers Workshops. His widely circulated reporting and writing advice can be found on Poynter's "Chip on Your Shoulder" column, and his blog, "The Mechanic and the Muse: An Owner's Manual for Writers." At Poynter and newsrooms around the world where he has coached, he specializes in equipping writers and editors with creative and critical thinking strategies to produce focused and compelling stories, regardless of media platform. After graduating from Columbia Journalism School, he spent two decades as a reporter for the Providence (RI) Journal, feature writer for the St. Petersburg (FL) Times, and national correspondent for Knight-Ridder Newspapers, winning 16 awards for public service, news features, Congressional reporting and a Robert K. Kennedy award for international journalism. He joined Poynter as a visiting professional in 1994 and later that year joined the full-time faculty. He edited seven volumes of Best Newspaper Writing, authored a textbook, "Reporting and Writing: Basics for the 21st Century," (Oxford University Press). His articles and essays have appeared in magazines, anthologies, as well as the New York Times, National Public Radio and Salon.com.

Don Sena is a 10-year veteran of MSN, and the managing editor of the MSN portal. He directs a team that coordinates content and business initiatives, and writes, edits and builds the MSN.com network entry points, including the MSN home page. In addition, Sena’s team manages and assembles many large network packaging projects, such as election guides, holiday guides, and the like. Before joining the MSN portal team, he was a senior channel manager at MSN, developing and running numerous content properties, such as MSN Health, MSN City Guides, MSN Careers and MSN Entertainment. Prior to his career at MSN, Sena spent almost 10 years as a newspaper journalist, including working as a reporter and editor at the Chicago Tribune and then at the Washington Post. At those papers, he covered a myriad of topics, including national news, business, politics, local news and sports. Sena is the recipient of numerous journalism awards, including first place awards for spot news from Society of Professional Journalists and from the Society of Newspaper Design.

Garry South is one of the premier Democratic political consultants in America. A former chief advisor to the then governor of Ohio, Richard Celeste, South was the architect of Gray Davis's two winning campaigns for governor of California. A former senior advisor to then Vice President Al Gore and Senator Joe Lieberman, South has experience in scores of campaigns and has played principal roles advising a host of ballot initiatives and corporate clients. Margaret Stock is a nationally recognized expert in issues related to immigration and citizenship law and has testified on these issues before Congress. She has practiced U.S. immigration and citizenship law for more than 10 years and currently is the equivalent of an associate professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. She has taught classes in international relations, national security law, international law, Constitutional and military law, and law of war. She also has served as a professor in the Department of Law at West Point. In 2005, the American Immigration Lawyers Association awarded her its prestigious Advocacy Award for her efforts to inform the public and Congress about the connection between immigration and national security. She recently co-authored a paper on the connection between immigration and national security; the paper is available at the website of the Combating Terrorism Center at the US Military Academy. Stock earned her bachelor's degree in Government (International Relations) at Harvard-Radcliffe (1985); her Juris Doctorate at Harvard Law School (1992); and a Master's in Public Administration at he John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is also a 2006 graduate of the Army War College, which awarded her a Master of Strategic Studies degree.
