Ashish Soni is a faculty member and Director of the Information Technology Program (ITP) at the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California. The Information Technology Program is an academic program at USC that focuses on technology education and innovation. The department teaches about 1200 students a year and under his leadership has become a campus wide leader in technology education and innovation. He led a significant financial turnaround in the department transforming it to profitability in one and a half year.

Ashish started teaching at USC when he was 23 and became the Department Director soon after. At 23, he was one of the youngest teaching faculty members at USC. He is actively involved with the technology industry and consults with startups and Fortune 500 companies in the areas of digital strategy and innovation, social media and emerging Web 2.0 technologies. He is an expert in the strategic and innovative use of technology across different disciplines and is interested in the nexus of technology, medicine and journalism. He was a strategic advisor to the Office of Intelligence at the U.S. Department of Energy and helped them conceptualize a Global Online Knowledge Ecosystem. He was an advisor to the innovative News21 Project at the Journalism School at USC and led a team in the implementation of an innovative journalistic project. He was an advisor to the Business and Society Lab at the Marshall School at USC and guided them in the design of a social interaction platform to bring together social entrepreneurs and resources at USC. He recently led a team to build mobile applications that interface with medical devices in collaboration with the Keck School of Medicine at USC and Boston Scientific. He was also the CTO for a privately funded healthcare company with offices in the US and China.

He is an advisor to the MySpace Incubator Slingshot Labs and sits on the executive committee at the Caltech MIT forum. He is also a mentor to startups at the Los Angeles Business Technology Center. He keeps his pulse at the edge of the digital world and is deeply knowledgeable about trends, emerging solutions, platforms and opportunities. Ashish also teaches classes at USC in the areas of Web 2.0 and Social Media, Building Web Startups, Online Marketing and Strategic Technology Management.

Mr Soni holds an MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
