Kwan Booth is a writer, editor, social media consultant and cultural curator. He serves as the senior producer for the hyperlocal news site OaklandLocal and is also founder of the Otherside Media collective. In the past Booth has held editorial positions at several media organizations including TheOakbook.com, Broadband Network 3, NotforTourists.com, 10best.com and the Oakland Post newspaper. Booth has lectured and led workshops about social media, diversity in journalism and creative writing for organizations including the Knight Digital Media Center, the Center for the Integration and Improvement of Journalism, Netsquared and The Chrysler Museum of Art. He is also on the advisory committee for 510arts.com and is working on "Say I'm Different/The Black Other Project", a multimedia investigation into avant-garde culture throughout the African Diaspora. Booth attended Old Dominion University and studied graphic design at the City College of San Francisco.
