Vin Crosbie is "widely regarded as one of the most outspoken and expert critics of how the newspaper industry worldwide and particularly in the United States has responded to the digital media revolution," according to Ifra. "But no one disputes that his is a critique borne of dedication to the newspaper tradition." The fifth generation of his family in the newspaper business, Crosbie has been a reporter, pressman, ad salesman, circulation truck driver, editor, and publisher, plus a former executive of News Corp., Reuters, and the original UPI. He has chaired and moderated Ifra's annual 'Beyond the Printed Word' conference in Vienna and keynoted the Seybold Publishing Strategies conference, the EPublishing Innovations Forum in London, and last year's annual AEDE (Daily Newspaper Publishers Association of Spain) conference. Folio, the trade journal of the magazine industry, profiled him as 'The Practical Futurist.' His address to the National Association of Broadcasters conference was selected by a committee of speech professors as one of 24 American orations included in the reference work, 'Representative American Speeches 2004-2005.' The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University last year appointed Crosbie as it senior consultant on executive education in New Media and as an adjunct professor in its graduate school, where he teaches New Media Business.
