Janet Coats

Janet Coats is a partner in Coats2Coats, a consulting firm she operates with her husband, Rusty. Coats2Coats works with clients on content and revenue development, managing organizational change and measuring impact. Their client list includes public media, entrepreneurial news startups, for-profit newspapers, foundations and universities.  For three years, Janet served as New Media Journalism Initiative Consultant for The Patterson Foundation in Sarasota, Fla.

Prior to starting Coats2Coats, Janet was a newspaper journalist for 25 years. She was vice president for news in Tampa, supervising the news operations for The Tampa Tribune, WFLA-Channel 8 and TBO.com. She was executive editor of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. She was briefly dean of the faculty at The Poynter Institute.
