by: Amy Gahran |

Registration for the 2013 Online News Association conference closes Oct. 10. Much of this event highlights the activities, and reflects the interests and perspective, of major news outlets -- but people involved with community news startups and projects also can benefit from attending. Saturday, Oct. 19:

  • Do the math: How to finance nonprofit journalism (Speakers: Emily Ramshaw, Texas Tribune; Anne Galloway, The VT Digger)
  • Build your first data-driven map with Tile Mill (Lisa Williams, Investigative News Network)

Also, on Saturday evening the Online Journalism Award winners will be announced. This year's finalists include several small or local/community news producers.

ONA13 will be held Oct. 17-19 in Atlanta. Register now.

Live coverage will be provided on the conference website by the ONA Student Newsroom.
