Online Journalism Awards 2014: Enter by June 13
The Online News Association is now accepting entries for the 2014 Online Journalism Awards, which recognize major media, international and independent new sites as well as individuals who produce innovative work in multimedia storytelling.
A total of $52,500 in prize money will be distributed among the winners of 10 awards. Among these is the $5000 Knight Award for Public Service, for digital journalism that performs a public service for a defined and specific geographic community through compelling coverage of a vital community issue or event. Journalism that makes a difference and motivates people to act to improve the place in which they live will be emphasized. Community impact will be a major factor in the judging.
While there is no "local" award category, all awards recognize "small" media -- any organization with 50 or fewer employees. This would include most independent community news, information and engagement projects as well as projects by individuals, local nonprofits or community foundations.
