by: Erin Leiker |

The Center for Public Interest Journalism at Temple University has announced that it will host the sixth annual BarCamp NewsInnovation in Philadelphia on Apr. 26. This unconference features discussions on the progress and process of media innovation, and how it affects communities.

Highlights of BCNI 2014 will include a session for media startups to pitch their plans. The event also will offer opportunities to network with local and national media, tech gurus, and community organizers.

Who should attend? According to CPIJ, "Some of the most interesting minds around will discuss new ideas on how to re-energize and innovate the news industry. This is NOT a journalists-only event! Invite any friends from various industries who are concerned about the future of news, information and dissemination. Even your friend who complains about the biased media. Especially that guy. There will be representatives from news organizations all over the country."

When & where: Saturday, Apr. 26, 9am-5pm, at Annenberg Hall, Temple University, Philadelphia.

Register now. $5 early bird general admission, or $10 after April 15. Free to students with ID.
