‘For Journalism’ digital learning program goes live for all journalists

by: Joshua Ferguson |

The Online News Association activated a long-term online learning initiative for its members designed to bring coding and data courses to journalists on all platforms.

Taught by industry experts, the course series begins with a module on Responsive Design providing a great entry point for coding newbies. Django, Charting, and Maps sessions are also ready for sign-up. These sessions are for those who “can handle some bumps along the way,” and are excellent for digital innovators who wish to roll up their sleeves and dive headfirst into digital programming. Each session category can be accessed by anyone with a $20 purchase.

Materials and collaborative-learning features are added on a weekly basis as instructors and new topics surface on the For Journalism website. Journalists and other readers who are interested in signing onto the program—or just learning more—are encouraged to contact Managing Developer Dave Stanton from Smart Media Creative at [email protected].
