by: Melissa Kaplan |

The winners of the Knight News Challenge will be announced Monday at the 2014 MIT-Knight Civic Media Conference, a three-day gathering in Cambridge which kicked off Sunday and focuses on the rewards and challenges of keeping an open Internet.

Watch a livestream of the conference here.

Tune into the livestream Monday morning at 10:45 a.m. ET to watch the announcement of the winners. We will also post the winners once announced.

The 652 challenge entries focus on the use of technology to bolster news, communication, and digital engagement in different communities. Winners of this round will receive funding to move their ideas forward.

Monday’s conference activities also include a keynote speech from Susan Crawford of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society on engaging community through “data-smart governance.” Another highlight: A panel on millennials and their significance in the future of an open Internet.
