Deadlines approaching for digital media fellowships
Some upcoming fellowships are open to journalists and media producers interested in community building and innovative storytelling:
Reynolds Journalism Institute fellowships. Each year, RJI offers several fellowships, with stipends, for residential and non-residential fellows pursuing new journalistic ideas. This broad call for entries can include anything from multi-platform digital stories to civic data projects and more. Deadline: Feb. 15, 2015.
Data & Society Fellowship. Seeking "data lovers" to create projects addressing the high prevalence of available data, finding ways to educate users and minimize potential abuses. This NYC-based program is focused on building a collaborative community. Applicants may come from any background, from academia to independent practitioners. Provides a $30,000 stipend, workspaces and support. Deadline: Dec. 13.
Bay Area Video Coalition Mediamaker Fellowship. Provides feedback, workshops and mentorship for film and multimedia projects, with emphasis on projects for or about underserved communities. This 10-month program includes web events, project support and immersive workshops in San Francisco, a $1000 stipend (upon completion) and travel stipends and passes to film festivals in Durham, N.C. and Camden, Maine.
