Helpful media panels at SXSW Interactive 2015

SXSW Interactive covers a very broad scope of the digital / technology industry, and has much to offer for anyone running a local media site or practicing community engagement. Here are a handful of panels including digital storytelling, privacy, digital ethics, and civic hacking.

The Art and Science of Data-Driven Storytelling, Sat. March 14, 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Led by James Ball of The Guardian and Liz Lukas of digital training company Decoded, this panel explores how The Guardian's team works the creative process to use data to tell stories, and how and where open source comes into play.

Back to the Future of Media, Fri. March 13, 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Thrillist Ben Lerer explores the question, "What will media companies look like in 10 years?" Lerer looks into the present media landscape with a lens forward.

Civic Hackers and Advocates Meetup, Sat. March 14, 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Software developer Chip Rosenthal of Open Austin invites civic advocates and supporters to discuss new ideas, concerns, and ways to support local communities, from innovating government data to analyzing policies and beyond.

Community Management Meetup, Mon. March 16, 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. The role of community manager is evolving across industries. Senior Community Manager Audrey Lo of Silicon Valley's Gogobot identifies where a community manager lives in your company's org chart, how they work with the team, and how to set goals with them.

The Biggest Issues in Digital Ethics, Tues. March 17, 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Erin Reillly of USC Annenberg joins several others to privacy issues and managing your digital footprint.
