The HuffPost forms new partnership to create more citizen video
Outspeak, a collaboration between The Huffington Post and digital video network Broadband TV, describes itself as “the first next-generation online video journalism network.”
The new network will enable citizen contributors who join Outspeak to create and upload news videos that will be seen on The HuffPost and BroadbandTV as well as YouTube. The Huffington Post has 214 million monthly unique visitors and BBTV 4.5 billion monthly views. The HuffPost will be looking to add creators of content to its video roster.
"We have a hundred thousand bloggers around the world, and we are getting to ready open the platform to more on the blogging side, and we wanted to do the same on the video side," Arianna Huffington, co-founder and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post, told Advertising Age.
The partnership with BBTV helps build upon that video strategy. "With the launch of Outspeak we're thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with emerging talent and creators to further build our presence on YouTube," Huffington said in a statement announcing Outbreak.
HuffPost has a live-streaming network called HuffPost Live which uses the news site’s stories, editors, reporters, bloggers, and community -- as its real-time script. in less than three years, HuffPost Live has surpassed 2.3 billion video views, according to the Outspeak announcement.
