Content Strategy: Online course from Northwestern

by: Amy Gahran |

Whether you're trying to engage a community or run a business or nonprofit, content strategy is a key skill. Starting Jan. 13, a free six-week online course from Northwestern University will walk you through the basics of content strategy.

Content Strategy for Professionals: Engaging Audiences for Your Organization Content Strategy is a massive open online course (MOOC) available through Coursera. It's free -- but if you also want to earn a verified certificate for this course from Northwestern, the course is $39.

The course is intended for "professionals who want to learn to create trustable, engaging and often interactive content to advance their enterprise's future," and for "people anywhere in an organization who have content development experience and now want to significantly improve their abilities to understand audiences and develop strategic words, pictures, graphics and videos to convey their organization's most important goals."

You can learn at your own pace. These sessions are structured so that you can complete the course in small bites over six weeks, or all at once.
