Michele's List adds 60 new local news sites
The latest update to Michele's List -- an online directory of independent websites in the emerging local news ecosystem, created by KDMC's Michele McLellan -- has added 60 new listings, bringing the total to more than 200.
McLellan currently is surveying the publishers of the newly listed sites in order to create their site profiles.
This resource offers useful guidance and context to anyone considering projects or businesses to inform or engage communities. It helps online local news publishers connect. Also, you can search the database across a variety of site sizes and activities to find publishers with similar models and challenges. Details include the type of site, the area it serves, the primary topics it covers, revenue and revenue sources, tax status and site platform or CMS.
This can help answer questions such as: "Which neighborhood sites are making $100,000 per year, primarily from local ad sales?" Or, "Who has established a secondary revenue stream from events?" or "Who is using WordPress?"
If you publish (or know of) a site that should be included in Michele's list, you can suggest a site. To update your site's existing profile, e-mail Michele McLellan
