Budget-wise tools for newsgathering and verification

Every newsroom, reporter and reader benefits from well vetted stories and photos, and it costs little to do your best to verify information, according to Storyful.

Storyful uses many free and inexpensive tools for newsgathering and verification. Derek Bowler of Storyful has put together a list of 11 such tools that are especially useful to newsrooms on a budget. 

His list, posted on First Draft News, is divided into two categories, newsgathering and verification. Most tools are free, or start free, while there are small fees for others. He provides a basic description of each tool, the cost, and when applicable examples of how Storyful has used the tool. Storyful created one of the tools:  Storyful MultiSearch Extension.
