Deadlines this week for media and journalism fellowships
Application deadlines are happening this week for several media and journalism fellowships supporting innovation and digital platforms:
Thusday, Jan. 29: Selden Ring Investigative Reporting Award. This $35,000 prize recognizes published investigative reporting that has brought results. Full-time or freelance reporters working for a general circulation U.S. newspaper, wire service, magazine or online publication are eligible. Saturday, Jan. 31:
- Google Journalism Fellowships. This 10-week program (June-August) is open to undergraduate and graduate journalism students who tell stories with technology. Fellows will focus on data, building apps and rethinking the journalism business. Spend the first week at Google headquarters, followed by time at on of several journalism organizations participating in the program -- including the Pew Research Center's Journalism Project and the Texas Tribune. Nieman Fellowships at Harvard. Open to working journalists with at least five years full-time media experience. Fellows spend two semesters auditing classes at Harvard and receive $65,000 stipend for nine months of living expenses. Learn more and apply now.

Metpro Tribune. This training program is for beginning journalists ready to launch careers at a Tribune newspaper. Metpro participants receive formal mentoring, background in ethics and privacy laws, and guidance on covering community news and city council meetings. Apply now.
Sunday, Feb. 1:
- Donald W. Reynolds Fellowships. Offered by the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri-Columbia, for journalism innovation. This year's themes are mobile engagement and monetization. Residential and non-residential fellowships are available, as well as media professionals working within their institution. - Knight-Wallace Fellowship. Open to 12 U.S. and six international journalists. Fellows study at the University of Michigan and travel abroad. U.S. fellows receive a $70,000 stipend. Apply now.
Monday, Feb. 2: Joan Shorenstein Fellowship. Brings journalists together with policymakers for the benefit of media, politics, and public policy research. Fellows are hosted at the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, Mass and receive a $30,000 stipend for one semester. Open to full-time journalists, politicians, scholars or policymakers. Apply now.
